Sparkle Motion def. Shadow Pricing 9-5
Matt Jordan || April 28, 2007 || Athletics

On a gorgeous Saturday afternoon at Clark Kerr Stadium, first year super-squad Sparkle Motion rallied to defeat second year all-star team Shadow Pricing 9-5 in a game which many analysts have described as "a passing of the torch."

It was an important victory for Sparkle Motion, who got embarrassed by Shadow Pricing last term.

Shadow Pricing led for much of the game, playing solid defense, getting timely hits, and looking great doing it.

Pitchers-by-committee Adam Lang and Keith Lucas kept Sparkle Motion relatively quiet until the 7th, when left-handed monster and team captain Tony "Chicken Toes" Chicotel mashed a solo dong to tie the game.

In the 8th, the fans got the smash-mouth softball they came out to see as first-year Josh Daniels trucked second-year John Lyman at home trying to beat out a go-ahead homer. Whoever was playing left-center through a bullet to home, but Daniels just beat it out by hustling, hyper-extending his knee, and hyperventilating on the ground for a while before doffing his hat to the crowd and limping off the field.

Apparently Daniels' red-hot American grit was too much for Shadow Pricing, as Sparkle Motion began to pour it on in the 8th, scoring three more runs.

Doug "Mientkiewicz" Spencer got the final put-out, and will be hanging on to the ball in order to auction it off and put his brood through private high school.

Asked about how they'll pay for college, he responded "They'll get scholarships or they won't go."

Substitute "Price" for "Pricing" and "threw" for "through", and you got yourself a tidy little blog post.

Just so you know, we had a whole host of ringers lined up, but they were all detained. Ozzie Smith got caught in a bottomless pit tourist trap, Steve Sax was accused of murder, Wade Boggs fell into a barroom brawl over England's greatest prime minister, etc.... It was tragic.

Oh, and my Wonder Bat broke.

That bullet from left field was thrown by Adam Lang - and it was unbelievable!!

Also, it's full tuition AND fees. Stipends are encouraged.
